This illustrated book is a collection by decision-makers from the region of Northern Ostrobothnia, who share their
stories and experiences on nature. The book was ordered by a foundation working for the benefit of health care in
Northern Finland, who use the profits for research of children's diseases.
The text is opened by county governor Eino Siuruainen. Other writers are the rector of University of Oulu, Lauri Lajunen,
Members of Parliament of that time: Antti Rantakangas, Pauli Saapunki, Niilo Keräinen and Tytti Isohookana-Asunmaa,
Members of Euro Parliament: Piia-Noora Kauppi and Samuli Pohjamo, as well as then Minister of Culture Suvi Lindén,
and Kari Nenonen, the mayor of Oulu.
The photographs in the book represent the county from different sides. Northern nature is shown from the Gulf of Bothnia
all the way to fells in the east. The photographer Tauno Kohonen was nominated the Photographer of The Year in Finland
